More than 100 Indiana leaders working to develop a statewide modern youth apprenticeship system as one potential solution to the state’s mounting workforce crisis. The 10-month Implementation Lab – referred to as an iLab – is an intensive collaborative that will result in a comprehensive statewide plan to increase the number of available modern youth apprenticeships across in-demand industry sectors.

The goal of the iLab is to ensure that by 2034, every student and adult learner in Indiana has access to high-quality education and training options.

A statewide childcare investment for to remove barriers and address the concerns for working Hoosiers. This 25 million dollar grant provides funding for employers and local communities to expand employer-subsidized child care.

Indiana’s premier financial aid program, 21st Century Scholars, acts as an early-college promise program designed to make college more affordable to students while the students become more prepared for college while in high school. The program fully covers the cost of tuition to any of Indiana’s public postsecondary institutions as well as providing a comparable amount for private institution enrollment.

CHE oversees our statewide higher education system consisting of public and private colleges and universities. Through the Outcomes-Based Performance Funding formula implemented in 2023, CHE incentives our academic institutions to collaborate with employers and other entities in retaining talent in Indiana once Hoosiers have completed their postsecondary education and training.

CHE fully launched new secondary career and technical education (CTE) courses in the 2022-2023 school year. This initiative, called Next Level Programs of Study (NLPS), aims to improve the consistency, quality, and intentionality of CTE instruction across Indiana.
