Michael L. Kubacki is the Executive Chairman of Lake City Bank and its holding company, Lakeland Financial Corporation. Lake City Bank is a $3.8 billion bank headquartered in Warsaw, Indiana, with banking offices throughout northern and central Indiana.
Kubacki joined the company in 1998 after a 25-year career with Northern Trust Corporation, serving in its Chicago and Los Angeles offices. He grew up in Pierceton, Indiana, and is a 1969 graduate of Pierceton High School. Kubacki received his bachelor’s degree in business from Indiana University in 1973, and a master’s in business administration from the University of Chicago in 1976.
Kubacki was Chief Executive Officer of the bank from 1999 to 2014. During his tenure, the bank’s assets grew from $1.0 billion to $3.2 billion, and the bank established its first offices in South Bend, Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. The company’s market value grew nearly 500%, which was one of the best performances in the country for banks of its size.
Throughout his career, Kubacki has been active in a number of organizations, having served on the boards of the Indiana Bankers Association, the Northeast Indiana Corporate Council (past Chairman), the Regional Chamber of Northeast Indiana, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (past Chairman of the Audit Committee). His current board affiliations include the Indiana Chamber of Commerce (where he is past Chairman), IUSB School of Business Advisory, LaCasa Business Advisory, the Indiana Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and the Indiana Society of Chicago.
Kubacki lives in Syracuse, Indiana with Rebecca, his wife of 40 years. He has two children and two grandchildren.
